Meet Our Staff

While the bible teaches that every Christian is a minister of the gospel, and we all lead in some way as we serve the church, scripture also teaches that those with the gifts of leadership, preaching and teaching should be able to work full-time in the ministry when possible. (1 Corinthians 9:1-14, 1 Timothy 5:7)


We are blessed to have Bob and Tricia Shanks serving as the Lead Evangelist and Women's Ministry Leader, and Tom McGuirk as an associate minister.  Please keep them in your prayers, as they work to help all of us grow in Christ and serve the church and the community.


Ephesians 4:11-13


It was God who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fulness of Christ.

Bob and Tricia Shanks

Bob and Tricia have been serving the Savannah church as Evangelist and Women's Ministry Leader since March of 2022. What a blessing it has been to have them working with us here in Savannah.


Bob and Tricia Shanks were born, raised and became disciples in Columbus, Ohio. They were married in 1995 and became disciples in 1997. The Shanks have served in many facets of ministry including teens, youth and family, young and mature marrieds and campus ministry.


In 2007 they moved to Pennsylvania to work for HOPE worldwide while serving in the Philadelphia Church of Christ.


In 2010 they moved to Virginia Beach for additional training for the full time ministry in the Hampton Roads Church of Christ.

In 2012 they were sent out to Toledo, Ohio to lead the Toledo Church of Christ and revive the campus ministry there.

In 2016 they moved back to Columbus, Ohio to lead the Columbus Church of Christ. In 2022 they made the faithful move to lead the Savannah Church of Christ.

They have two daughters who are married with their own children. Brooke and Brody Snell were leading the Campus Ministry in Columbus, Ohio, but as of June 2023 have moved here with their 2 children to Savannah!

Cortney and Tom McGuirk are also in Savannah now, after leading the Campus Ministry in Paris, France for the past 5 years. The McGuirks have 2 children.

We are eager to serve God together and see how the Lord uses us all to make His name known in Savannah, the L0w Country, and beyond!

Tom McGuirk

Tom joined our staff in January 2024 as a associate minister, after serving for 5 years as the campus minister in Paris, France, and teaching in the European School of Missions.  

Tom was born in France, raised in Boston, and trained for the ministry in Atlanta GA, where he also served as a campus minister. 

Tom's primary focus in Savannah is with campus, singles and young married couples.

Tom and Cortney have two children, Teo and Luna.
